Small towns and Little friends

Just outside the small city/town of Georgetown we found this very nice campground, right on the edge of the Texas prairie. These folks turned their small ranch into a lovely, friendly RV park.

The scrawny trees at the property edge bore their symbiotic Holiday gifts.... Mistletoe. We had first seen this in Oklahoma, pointed out by our friend Mary.

Georgetown is the home of Southwestern University, the oldest chartered university in Texas. Much of it's buildings are Gothic style, dating back to the 1800's, but labs and athletic arenas are 20th Century.

Georgetown boasts 3 National Historic Districts, including it's downtown square, which makes you feel you've stepped back in time. Filled with shops and restaurants, it was a mini day spa for my soul.

There are Victorian Mansions and many darling Arts & Craft style homes, adding to the welcoming charm of the area.

At night, the lights enhanced the features of other buildings.

For me, the next plan was to visit my friends Amy and Stephanie and their 2 newly adopted boys. What a wonderful visit it was! 3 year old Jack and 18 month old Eli and I bonded instantly, and we had a fun, cuddly, learning and loving time together. To say nothing of the Amazing Food Fest! Thank you so much, Amy  & Family, for the hospitality and love!

Meanwhile, Bernie continued to explore the small towns of Betram ...

.....and Johnson City, the boyhood home of President LB Johnson.

On Saturday morning, Bernie brought a surprise when he came to pick me up! The boys had been waiting to see him again, and enjoyed the fruit and Lucky Charms he brought for breakfast. Especially the Anniversary Cake, with which the boys helped us celebrate our 5th anniversary.
